Branches of the Company
Scrap Metal Trading Base
The Scrap Metal Trading Base in Owczary prepares and processes scrap copper and cupriferous materials, which are used as feedstock for production of electrolytic copper in the KGHM PM SA’s smelting plants. The Base processes tens of thousands of tons per year and is the largest scrap copper buyer in Poland and in Central and Eastern Europe.
Through our work we pursue the circular economy objectives.
Raw Material Recovery Facility
Raw Material Recovery Facility of Metraco S.A. deals with the processing and recovery of metals from ore and mineral resources and from various industrial wastes. The Company recovers approx. 3 thousand tons of furnace lining from Głogów, Legnica and Cedynia smelting plants, which makes it possible to produce in total more than 1 thousand tons of copper and silver concentrate. The Facility’s production lines are capable of processing 20 – 40 tons of waste per day. Having at its disposal professional equipment to carry out technological tests (laboratory flotation machines, devices for crushing, milling, grain size analysis and analytical sample preparation, etc.) and skilled personnel, Metraco has the potential to cooperate in the area of the recovery of metals and the sale of concentrates, and offers a wide range of research, implementation and service activities.
Salt Warehouse
The operation of this branch is oriented towards the sale of rock salt produced at the “Polkowice-Sieroszowice” Mine. The warehouse, which was a development project undertaken by the company together with the “Polkowice-Sieroszowice” Mine, has a storage capacity of 70 thousand tons. Owing to this investment the company is capable of selling higher volumes of rock salt in winter season.
Sulphuric Acid Transshipment Terminal
The branch, located at the Szczecin Harbor, started its activity in May 2012. The terminal makes it possible to efficiently export sulphuric acid produced at Głogów and Legnica Copper Smelter. It is Europe’s most modern and Poland’s only facility of its kind.
Aggregate Production Plant
Aggregate Production Plant is a production plant which processes copper slag from Głogów Copper Smelting Plant being a by-product of copper smelting process. Properly configured technological line makes it possible to manufacture valuable aggregates, part of physical and chemical parameters of which outcompetes natural rocks aggregates. Good geographical position of the plant creates an opportunity of cheaper transport for clients and thus – to lower the production costs. Products of the Company are delivered to trade partners by road and by rail. Project co-financed by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management
Aggregate Production Plant in Legnica is a production plant which processes copper slag from Głogów Copper Smelting Plant being a by-product of copper smelting process. Properly configured technological line makes it possible to manufacture valuable aggregates with continuous granulation and mixes. Good geographical position of the plant creates an opportunity of cheaper transport for clients and thus – to lower the production costs. Products of the Company are delivered to trade partners by road and by rail.
Hydrometallurgical Plant
The Hydrometallurgical Plant, which was commissioned in autumn 2007 (on the premises of Głogów II Copper Smelting Plant) produces crystal ammonium perrhenate with 69.4 % content of rhenium and catalytic quality. Production process is carried out in an advanced full-scale plant which complies with the latest technological standards. A new plant was commissioned at the end of 2009 on the premises of Głogów I Copper Smelting Plant, the industrial activity of which comprises only the production of rhenium eluate – solution from which ammonium perrhenate is then recovered. Metallic Rhenium Plant has been operating since 2010 as part of the Branch. The Plant, located within the Legnica Copper Smelter produces metallic rhenium in pellets containing 99.95 % of pure rhenium.
